Our Work

National Fibromyalgia Association
Increase media coverage and establish the NFA as the leading organization for fibromyalgia in the U.S.

Several years following its inception in 1997, the NFA had garnered only a few dozen support groups to participate in the NFA’s “Awareness Day” campaigns. New groups forming had little to no knowledge of the NFA. Media coverage was few and far between, and the messages were erratic, at best.

Walson Communications worked with the NFA team to brand “Fibromyalgia Awareness Day” as a national, high profile media event spearheaded by the National Fibromyalgia Association. We helped create and launch “Leaders Against Pain,” a media training and advocacy program that would become the NFA’s signature awareness event. The program trained “Leaders” who in turn helped carry the NFA’s message of awareness to their local media and communities.

Our strategy included an aggressive and proactive media outreach, focusing on the personal stories of each Leader.

The result was an unprecedented number of Awareness Day hosted events, with over 200% increase in media coverage and nearly 2 million media impressions. Sales of NFA merchandise (Awareness Day posters, flyers) were its highest ever at the time.

California Association of Legal Document Assistants
Garner media coverage and awareness of LDA services

CALDA is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote the use of Legal Document Assistant services to the public, and to encourage high standards of ethical and professional conduct within the LDA profession.

Walson Communications performed PR and event marketing services for CALDA’s 20th and 21th annual conferences, which resulted in significant media coverage, including TV and a feature newspaper article on their keynote speaker. We assisted with event planning, design and production of conference marketing collaterals, and launch of CALDA’s first e-newsletter.

Foresters
Increase visibility of Foresters and its agents in local business and community groups

Founded in 1874, Foresters is a not-for-profit life insurance and financial services company that shares its financial strength with its members and their families. Known for its partnerships with local and national charities, Foresters lends financial support and employees volunteer their time and resources to noteworthy causes, particularly those involving children.

Before Walson Communications began working with Foresters, the company’s charitable contributions to the community went largely unnoticed by the media and the community. Our strategy focused on highlighting the individual agents and their involvement in charitable works in their respective communities throughout southern California.

We placed feature stories in general dailies and Pan Asian American media. We also produced their first broadcast PSA and first electronic monthly newsletter.
